RACING: This afternoon's meeting at Naas, featuring the Lucan Racing Leinster National, has been cancelled due to unexpected snowfall.
General manager Tom Ryan said: “At 10.20am we were OK, but then there was a freak snow shower and we are not fit for racing.
“The first (race) is only three hours away but we don’t think that gives us any guarantee that it will be clear in time and we don’t know if any more snow will fall so we are trying to be fair to everyone.
“We made a quick decision and unfortunately we had to cancel.”
Ryan is hopeful the fixture will be rearranged at a later date.
“We are talking to Horse Racing Ireland and we hope to know very quickly when the fixture will take place,” he told At The Races.
“With Cheltenham on next week it won’t happen then, so probably the week after.”
