Tennis:Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal claimed second-round victories at the Monte Carlo Masters clay court tournament.
Top seed Djokovic cruised through his second-round clash with Florent Serra of France 6-2 6-3 in one hour 23 minutes.
Second seed Nadal, meanwhile, stepped up his warm-up in his bid to reclaim the French Open title from Roger Federer with a 6-1 6-0 win over qualifier Thiemo de Bakker of the Netherlands in 59 minutes.
Djokovic will next play Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka, who defeated Ernests Gulbis of Latvia 6-1 6-4, while Spain's Nadal will play either 14th seed Juan Monaco of Argentina or Germany's Michael Berrer - in action this afternoon – in the third round.
Ninth seed Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain beat Benjamin Becker of Germany 6-3 6-4 and his 11th-seeded compatriot David Ferrer defeated qualifier Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan 6-3 6-2.
Ferrero will play France's Jo-Wilfred Tsonga in the next round, with Ferrer due to meet Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia or France's Michael Llodra in the next round. Ljubicic and Llodra are in action later today.
Spain's Tommy Robredo, the 12th seed, was a 6-4 6-3 winner over Serbia's Viktor Troicki, but Jurgen Melzer, the 15th seed, was ousted 7-6 (7/4) 6-2 by Philipp Petzschner of Germany.
Meanwhile, Spain's Albert Montanes beat Andreas Seppi of Italy 7-6 (7/1) 3-6 6-0 in two hours five minutes.
