NFL Round-Up: All-Ireland champions Kerry had a close run thing before they narrowly defeated Derry on a day when Cork marked their return to action with a win away to Roscommon.
Kerry were one point victors, 0-10 to 0-09, over Derry in their NFL Division One clash in Killarney. Elsewhere in the top division Kildare were surprise 0-12 to 0-11 winners against Donegal in Newbridge.
At Pearse Stadium Galway got the measure of Tyrone 1-14 to 2-09.
Cork took on Roscommon in their first competitive match since
strike action in the county.
They had a tough encounter before eventually winning 1-14 to
0-15.
Westmeath recorded their first league win (1-10 to 0-08) against Meath in 35 years even though they had to play the second half with 14 men. Also in Division Two Monaghan defeated Armagh 1-11 to 1-10.
Yesterday Laois and Mayo played out a 1-13 draw in their Division One clash, while Alan Brogan scored late in the game to ensure Dublin claimed the points (1-9 to 0-7) in their Division Two match against Cavan at Breffni Park.
