The Zanussi national bridge team championship (Holmes Wilson Cup) attracted a record entry of 308 players to the Stand House Hotel, The Curragh, and was won by D. Walsh, C. Coyne, C. O Dalaigh and M. Burke, with a score of 277 victory points.
Runners-up were A. Mesbur, N.K. FitzGibbon, P. Walshe and N. Toibin, with 272. Third prize went to Dr G.M. Keaveney, R. Timlin, the Rev E. Glynn and M. Hession, with 271. The prize for the best third session was won by H. DowlingLong, A.M. Horan, H. Carroll, J. Kulchycky.

The Irish Bridge Union's all-Ireland inter-county team championship (Burke Trophy) will be decided over three sessions in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone, next Saturday and Sunday.
The national pairs championship (Lambert Cup), open to masters holding fewer than 30 national points and to inter A players, will be run over two sessions in the Westmanstown Sports Centre, Clonsilla, Co Dublin, on March 10th (1.30 p.m.). Entries: Paul Porteous (01-4929666).
