The North Eastern Health Board is to carry out a major survey on lifestyles and health-related behaviour and factors in Co Louth "as a matter of urgency". At a meeting of the NEHB yesterday, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Donal O'Shea, said the survey would be used "to establish precisely the attitudes, behaviour and knowledge of the population in relation to the risk factors for the diseases with higher than average death rates in the county".

He told the meeting that for 1991-1995, Co Louth had higher death rates than average for chest disease, injuries and poisonings for males, and for motor accidents and cancers for both sexes.
