Gardai were today hunting a masked and armed gang which made off with around €10,000 during a raid on Nenagh golf club in Co Tipperary.

The gang of four masked men, who were armed with pickaxe handles and a screwdriver, confronted a member of staff and his family at about 11.40pm at Nenagh Golf Club in Co Tipperary.

They threatened the man, his partner and a 12-year-old child before forcing him to open a safe.

Gardai said one of the raiders spoke with a Dublin accent.

No one was injured during the burglary. Gardai in Nenagh urged anyone who was in the area and who may have seen anything unusual to contact them.
