South African prosecutors have served papers on ANC President Jacob Zuma in connection with an investigation into allegations of corruption, South Africa's 702 Talk Radio reported today.

The charges against Mr Zuma, who was elected leader of the African National Congress earlier this month, include racketeering, tax evasion and corruption, according to the report.

It is unclear whether the serving of the papers on Mr Zuma includes a summons to appear in court.

The National Prosecuting Authority has been investigating allegations that the populist Zulu politician accepted bribes and was involved in other graft in connection with an arms deal.
