Gardaí have repeated their appeal for information about an incident in which a woman sustained serious head wounds on Friday evening outside a south Dublin park.

Donnybrook gardaí have not been able to establish how the woman, who is in her 30s, sustained her injuries and have not ruled out foul play. But they believe she may have had an accident of some kind.

She was found unconscious by pedestrians in a lane known locally as the Dodder walk between the Dodder river and Herbert Park in Dublin 4.

A Garda spokesman today said the public response to their first appeal for information had been good but that more public assistance could prove useful. He reiterated an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

The woman, who lives close to where she was found, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Last night, Supt Kieran Kenny of Donnybrook Garda station said no information had emerged which could indicate the cause of her injuries.

"We have had a lot of calls and there are people who were in the area at the time who we still have to rule out, but these may have been just passing through at the time."
