Ireland's new British ambassador took up office today.
His Excellency David Reddaway presented his credentials to President Mary McAleese at her Arás an Uachtaráin residence this morning.
Mr Reddaway (53) was previously Britain's High Commissioner in Canada and has also been posted in Iran, Spain, India, Argentina, and Afghanistan.
He replaces Stewart Eldon who has been appointed as Britain's permanent representative on the North Atlantic Council.

Mr Reddaway was accompanied at today's ceremony by his wife and daughter.
Social and Family Affairs Minister Seamus Brennan and Dermot Gallagher, secretary general at the Department of Foreign Affairs, were among others who attended.
