Welsh veterinary officers are investigating seven new suspected cases of foot-and-mouth disease among cattle and sheep in Wales. This is in addition to the three cases confirmed up to last night, and spreads the disease right across Wales.
The seven new investigations confirm the Welsh agriculture industry's worst fears regarding the widespread nature of the disease, and indicate it may have spread to cattle stocks.
The Welsh Rural Affairs Minister has said the crisis "has the makings of the total devastation of farming in Wales."
Two new cases were confirmed yesterday afternoon.
