Dublin’s newest DART station, which is based in Barrow St near the city centre, opened today.
Grand Canal Dock Station, as it will be known, is located between Pearse Street and Lansdowne Road stations.
Construction of the station, which is the 30th on the DART system, cost approximately £3 million. This was co-funded by the European Union’s structural fund. The station includes facilities for the disabled and a bicycle storage area.
DART customers will see further improvements in the service in the coming months as the next 16 carriages, currently being tested, enter service to boost capacity further. Ten new carriages were introduced late last year, the first new DART carriages since the service began in 1984.
