The Garda is to intensify its enforcement of the drink-driving laws this summer as part of Operation Lifesaver. The campaign is to run from next Monday until July 12th.
On May 15th police forces across Europe carried out a combined enforcement campaign to combat drink-driving. More than 125,000 motorists were checked and 1,300 were found to be over the legal limit for their country. In Ireland 32 motorists were arrested. According to the Garda, 153 people have died on Irish roads this year already.
