A new editor of the Irish Catholic has been appointed to succeed David Quinn, who becomes Religious and Social Affairs Correspondent at another newspaper next month. Simon Rowe will assume the role as editor on September 8th.

A UCD graduate with a degree in history and politics, he is a former journalist with Business & Finance magazine and has worked as a producer at the Dublin radio station Newstalk 106. He has also been a senior editor at Ocean Publishing in Dublin.

In the current edition of the Irish Catholic, he expressed his delight at his appointment and assured the paper's readership that it "will continue to provide valuable analysis and comment on issues of secular and church importance, just as it has done during David Quinn's successful tenure".

The paper had, he said, "a great team of journalists and writers who will continue to provide an alternative view on topical issues affecting Catholic families in Ireland". The paper enjoyed a unique profile under Quinn's tenure, taking a strong stance in opposing the perceived liberal agenda.
