Two Limerick children who suffered serious burns in an arson attack on their mother's car look set to have a new home for Christmas.
It is understood that discussions between Limerick City Council and Sheila Murray about rehousing her family are now at an advanced stage.
Ms Murray fled her house in Pineview Gardens in Moyross in October pledging never to return to the estate after her car and property were vandalised.
Just weeks before that incident, two of her children, sixyear-old Millie and four-year- old Gavin, suffered serious burns in an arson attack on the family car.
Two youths have been charged in connection with that incident.
Both children have undergone skin graft operations at Our Lady's hospital in Crumlin where they are still being treated.
The family has been involved in ongoing discussions with Limerick City Council to find a new home near the children's school, St Munchin's in Ballynanty.
A spokesman for the council has expressed confidence that the talks to rehouse the family will be finalised shortly.
Ms Murray is also expected to learn over the coming days whether Millie and Gavin will be allowed out of hospital for Christmas.
