Vayu has been licenced by the Commission of Energy Regulation, the independent body responsible for overseeing the liberalisation of Ireland's energy sector, to operate as a shipper and supplier of natural gas.

Vayu has been licenced supply gas to customers who are eligible to switch gas supplier as part of the deregulation of the energy sector.

The threshold for eligibility is set at 500k standard cubic metres each year (large and industrial customers) but will drop further this summer to include those using in excess of 73k kwh, estimated to number some 16,000 smaller industrial and commercial and SME customers.
