The new position of Solicitor to the Director of Public Prosecutions has been filled by Ms Claire Loftus, writes Carol Coulter, Legal Affairs Correspondent.
The position arises from the pending reorganisation of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, where the solicitor's function in prosecutions is being brought directly under this office. Up to now this function has been carried out by the Chief State Solicitor's Office.
