A Kilkenny priest who last March pleaded guilty to five sex offences faced further charges yesterday.
The 48 year old man appeared at Kilkenny District Court on three charges of indecent assault on a young male during the mid 1980s. He had nothing to say in reply to the new charges.
The court was told the first charges were linked with other matters to which the priest had pleaded guilty at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court last March. The priest is due to appear before that court again for sentencing on June 17th.
The solicitor said he was anxious that the new charges also be dealt with on that date. The priest was remanded in custody with consent to bail, on his own bond of £500 and an independent surety of £1,000, to the June 4th sitting of Kilkenny Circuit Criminal Court.
