Four new postage stamps celebrating Irish contemporary dance have been unveiled by An Post to coincide with this year’s Dublin Dance Festival.

The diamond-shaped stamps feature performers from four contemporary dance companies - Dance Theatre of Ireland, Coiscéim Dance Theatre, Fabulous Beast and the Irish Modern Dance Theatre.

The 55 cent stamps were designed by Ger Garland, who was also responsible for stamps launched late last year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first RTÉ television broadcast. Ms Garland also designed a series of stamps on the theme of contemporary Irish craft, for the Year of Craft 2011.

Artists from 17 countries will take part in the Dublin Dance Festival at venues throughout the capital, including the Abbey Theatre, from May 11th to May 26th.
