If you're wondering where to go for a night out, then you need The Ticket. Starting today, this new 32-page supplement will be published with The Irish Times every Wednesday.
Mr Hugh Linehan, the newspaper's entertainment editor, says: "We believe that cultural activity - which means everything from grand opera to garage bands, from Shakespeare to slasher movies - is central to the lives we lead."
Celebrity DJ Fat Boy Slim and rising movie star Joaquim Phoenix are the subjects of in-depth features in today's supplement.
Speaking at the launch of the supplement in the Morrison Hotel, Dublin, yesterday evening, Mr Linehan added: "The new supplement will offer broader, deeper coverage of the arts, with a particular focus on film and music. It has an extensive seven-day listing of events around the country that will cover everything from theatre in Donegal to clubbing in Cork."
"The Ticket represents a robust commitment on the part of The Irish Times to increased coverage of entertainment and the arts and, visually, a more modern and accessible packing of this coverage," said the managing editor (development) of The Irish Times, Mr Gerry Smyth.
"It gives readers an extended events listings service, providing a midweek offering to complement Saturday's selective guide," he added.
"With the recent introduction of The Irish Times Magazine, it is further added value to what's on offer in the paper throughout the week and a new and different kind of outlet for the paper's expert and in-depth feature and review coverage of film, music, theatre, exhibitions and other arts categories."
The Irish Times entertainment website - Ireland.com - will be upgraded and relaunched shortly.
