Tributes have been paid to a director of the company which publishes the Sunday Business Post, who died in a motorcycle crash in France on Friday evening.

Edwin Dagge (41) was en route to a wedding in Italy when the incident occurred in the mountains near Grenoble.

He was print and circulation manager with the Sunday Business Postand a director of Post Publications.

A native of Shillelagh, Co Wicklow, Mr Dagge lived in Athgarvan, Co Kildare and joined the newspaper 10 years ago.

He was travelling by motorcycle with his fiancee, Lisa Brady (28), who works as a sub-editor at the newspaper. However, Ms Brady, who had been on the bike earlier with Mr Dagge, had got off it shortly before Mr Dagge, a motorcycling enthusiast, went for a ride by himself when the crash happened.

There were suggestions yesterday that at least one other motorcycle was involved in the crash, and that another person may have been killed.

Staff at the newspaper, who learned of Mr Dagge's death shortly after it occurred, are said to be shocked.

Fiachra O'Riordan, chief executive of the Sunday Business Post, said the thoughts of everyone at the newspaper were with Mr Dagge's family and his fiancee. "We have lost a very valued director, colleague and, above all a friend in a very tragic way," he said.
