Los Angeles - The white supremacist, Mr Buford Furrow jnr, went drinking, looked for a prostitute and had his hair cut as he relaxed after killing a postman and shooting five people at a Jewish centre, according to a report published yesterday.

The Los Angeles Times, quoting a police source, said that the 37-year-old member of the extreme-right Aryan Nations movement has given authorities an almost minute-by-minute account of his activities - from casing three other Jewish centres as possible targets for an attack to relating how easy it was for him to elude a massive police manhunt using taxis.

Mr Furrow was charged on Thursday with murdering Philippine-born postal worker Joseph Ileto (39) and with five counts of attempted murder for wounding three children and two women in an attack on the North Valley Jewish Community Centre.
