THE Alliance Party has condemned a report on the parades issue adopted yesterday by the Northern Ireland Forum, saying it was "unbalanced" and a "failure".

Mr Steven McBride said the all unionist committee which drafted it had not taken into account the views of those opposed to parades and accused them of "slamming the door" in the face of residents' groups. "They did send out letters and Garvaghy Road Residents' Coalition came back at quite a late stage, but the committee came up with all kinds of procedural reasons for not meeting them. In general it is an expression of unionist opinion," he said.

The Women's Coalition also rejected the report. Ms Pearl Sagar said it was "one-sided, lacks credibility and would clearly not gain support from across the various traditions in Northern Ireland".
