The Northern Secretary has announced his appointment of 22 members of the Police Authority of Northern Ireland who will serve for three years or until the new Policing Board proposed in the Patten report is in place, possibly at the end of March 2001.
The current chairman, Mr Pat Armstrong, and vice-chairman, Prof Herbert Wallace, have been reappointed for another term, as were 16 other members, including the Minister of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Sir Reg Empey. Among four new appointees is the Queen's University Pro-Vice Chancellor and Provost, Prof Fabian Monds.
