The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also charged with causing actual bodily harm to the mother, assault and injurious imprisonment of both mother and daughter and indecently assaulting both of them.

He was further charged with threatening to kill the mother and the little girl and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife.

He also faced two charges of entering a property as a trespasser with intent to rape mother and daughter and entering a property as a trespasser armed with a knife with intent to rape the two.

The court was told by a detective constable that when charged, the teenager made no reply to the rape charge and said: "No" to the remaining 14 charges. However, the officer told the court he believed he could connect the accused to the charges.
