Gareth Richardson(18) arrived at Belfast International Airport after his ordeal on the resort island of Ibiza.

The Bangor youth suffered chest injuries when he and a friend were caught in a gun battle linked to a drugs feud.

Speaking to the BBC after arriving in Belfast, Gareth's father Tom said parents should think twice about sending their children to the area. "I would say be very careful, be very, very careful.

"We know drugs are a real scourge of society at the minute. This is a massive turf war now."

He added their thoughts were with Niall Hamilton (18) from Holywood, who is still in hospital on the Mediterranean island after being injured in the attack on Monday.

Another friend, Phillip Young, and the youths' fathers accompanied them home. The shooting happened in the resort town of San Antonio, soon after the pair had arrived. Niall underwent surgery to remove a bullet from his mouth. He will have to remain in Ibiza while he recovers.

Mr Richardson said his son had suffered a painful injury which would take some time to heal.
