An NIB employee has told the Beverley Cooper-Flynn libel case of a phone conversation between an NIB consultant and a Mr Howard where Mr Howard hung up the phone.
Ms Deirdre Condren - who worked in the administration department of NIB from September 1990 to August 1999 - said she recalled a portfolio sale to a Mr Howard and having to write him a letter of apology in 1994 over a delay in encashment.
Fianna Fáil TD Ms Cooper-Flynn from Westport Road, Castlebar in Co Mayo is suing RTÉ journalist Mr Charlie Bird and retired farmer Mr James Howard of Wheaton Hall, Drogheda in Co Louth.
She claims she was libelled in broadcasts on RTÉ between June 19th 1998 and July 1st 1998 and words used on the programme claimed she had instigated a scheme the object of which was the evasion of the lawful payment of tax.
Ms Condren also told the High Court she sometimes typed letters for Ms Cooper-Flynn and gave evidence of becoming familiar with NIB consultants' handwriting. She said that unsigned official documents were sometimes left for her and that she would recognise people's writing without their signature.
Earlier a professional photographer from Westport, Co Mayo told the court how he was contacted by RTÉ in 1998 and asked to provide a photograph of Ms Cooper-Flynn's engagement ring.
Mr Liam Lyons said he got the call on July 1st or 2nd 1998 but could not remember the name of the person who contacted him.
He told the caller he had taken pictures at the Cooper-Flynn wedding but he should ask them for it.
The case continues tomorrow.
