Nine candidates will contest the Dublin South-Central by-election which takes place on Wednesday, October 27th.
The by-election in the four-seat constituency follows the sudden death of Labour TD Dr Pat Upton earlier this year.
The late TD's sister, Dr Mary Upton, is the Labour candidate in the by-election, while local councillor Mr Michael Mulcahy runs for Fianna Fail and councillor and housewife Ms Catherine Byrne is the Fine Gael candidate.
The other candidates who had declared by the close of nominations yesterday are: Bord na Gaeilge worker Mr Aengus O Snodaigh, Sinn Fein; Dublin Corporation employee Mr Shay Kelly, Workers' Party; librarian Mr John Goodwillie, Green Party; Mr Eamonn Murphy, a counsellor, non-party; and teacher of transcendental meditation Mr John Burns, the Natural Law Party.
The constituency takes in Drimnagh, Dolphin's Barn, Crumlin, Walkinstown, Harold's Cross, Kimmage, Terenure and Templeogue.
The sitting TDs are Mr Ben Briscoe and Mr Sean Ardagh, Fianna Fail, and Mr Gay Mitchell, Fine Gael. an Ardagh, Fianna Fail.
This will be the fourth by-election since the Government took office in June 1997.
