LONDON The British government plans to go ahead with fault divorce after one year, despite protests from senior Conservative peers that she shake up in the law undermines marriage.
The Lord Chancellor, Lord Mackay of Clashfern, quashed reports that he was planning to extend the proposed time limit for divorce from a year to 18 months to try to head off mounting opposition to the Family Law Bill.
Lord Mackay said he was keeping to the one year time limit on divorce, as outlined in the White Paper.
