MORE THAN 100 workers at B3 Cable Solutions in Longford will have to wait until next week to discover whether they still have jobs.
B3 Cable Solutions, which manufactures copper based cable for Eircom and other customers, has provided employment at its plant at Aghafad, near Longford town, for three decades.
Since the company went into receivership last week fears have grown that the business may go into liquidation if a new owner is not found. Although the deadline for expressions of interest expired at noon yesterday, receiver Alan Flanagan of Deloitte and Touche was not commenting on the situation.
Siptu's Sean Nolan said the workers were now in "limbo".
Longford Chamber of Commerce president Séamus Butler called on the Government to establish an employment taskforce.
"The loss of 100 jobs, if that is to be and it looks as if it will be, is a huge blow proportionally to Longford," he remarked.
