There will be no compulsory redundancies in the public service if the Progressive Democrats are in government, according to Mr Des O'Malley.
In a statement, he said the party had made it clear during this campaign that proposals for public service reform would only be pursued in the context of Partnership 2000, and only on the basis of negotiations and agreement with public sector unions.
