McKenna Cup round-up:Peter Canavan's return to Healy Park ended in defeat tonight as Tyronebeat his Fermanaghside 0-13 to 1-7 to make the semi-finals.
Almost 7,000 turned up to welcome Canavan back, but Canavan's side were given a chasing in the opening half as they opened up a 0-10 to 0-1 lead at the break.
The Ernesiders staged a battling fightback after the interval, spurred by a goal from Seán Quigley.
They had got back to within two points of Tyrone at one stage, but the dismissal of skipper Ryan McCluskey for a second booking in the 68th minute ended any hopes of a stunning turnaround.
They’ll get a second chance this weekend as the two sides meet again in the semi-finals after Fermanagh finished as the best runner-up in the three groups.
Derry
made it through to the last four on the back of a third straight victory, seeing off All-Ireland semi-finalists
Donegal
by 1-8 to 0-9 at Ballbofey to capture Section C.
Conleth Gilligan converted a second-minute penalty for Derry and finished with 1-3 to his name, while Donegal’s Dermot Molloy impressed with six points, four of them from frees.
They will now face section B winners
