The chief executive of the North Eastern Health Board has said there will be no lay-offs or reduction in staffing levels at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, following the announcement that agreement has been reached on transferring ownership of the hospital from the Medical Missionaries of Mary to the NEHB.

Mr Donal O'Shea also told a meeting of the board that he did not see a letter from hospital management sent to department heads in the hospital the same day the Minister for Health announced the transfer. The letter referred to a budgetary deficit and service reductions and was not part of the arrangements of the transfer, he said.
