No wolves at the door for McCarthy

Soccer: Wolves boss Mick McCarthy insists he retains the support of club owner Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey

Soccer:Wolves boss Mick McCarthy insists he retains the support of club owner Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey. Wolves are currently lying second from bottom of the Premier League after Saturday's 3-0 reversal at Blackburn.

McCarthy, who kept Wolves in the top flight last season, has been hit by a string of injuries including those suffered by skipper Karl Henry and key defender Jody Craddock.

The former Republic of Ireland manager said: “The support has been brilliant from Steve and Jez. That has always been the same and it will never, never change. The support is there. In terms of signings, it has always been the same here with Steve and Jez.

“If we can do it, if the right players are available, we will try and do something.”

Adlene Guedioura and Michael Kightly are also on the injury list while Dave Jones and Michael Mancienne are battling to be fit to face Birmingham on Sunday.

McCarthy added: “We are having a tough spell at the moment but it is a lot easier if you’ve got everyone fit and well and available. At the moment, one problem seems to be compounded by another.”
