THE Government has nominated Ms Miriam Malone for appointment as a permanent judge of the District Court

THE Government has nominated Ms Miriam Malone for appointment as a permanent judge of the District Court. She will be assigned to the Dublin Metropolitan District Court.

From Monkstown, Co Dublin Ms Malone (41) qualified as a barrister in 1976 and has practised predominantly in the criminal courts. She was educated at Holy Faith Convent, Glasnevin, and studied law at University College Dublin, before completing the King's Inns course.

Between 1981 and 1985 she did District Court prosecution work and later took prosecutions on behalf of the DPP in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. From 1991 to the present, Ms Malone has prosecuted for the DPP in the Central Criminal Court and worked on personal injury cases.
