Nationwide Conference side Boston United are hoping to resurrect the career of former England international Stan Collymore by luring him to York Street.
Boston manager Steve Evans has confirmed his interest in the striker and has already made contact with Real Oviedo who hold the player's registration.
Evans is now preparing to speak to the chairman and manager of the Spanish club tomorrow afternoon and is hoping to be given permission to speak to Collymore.
The former Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Leicester player was identified by Evans as someone who could help the team push for promotion to the Football League.
Evans was hoping that, following the signing of former Liverpool player Mike Marsh who is a friend of Collymore, he would get his man.
He said: "Stan is the type of player who we believe will make us a better team.
"He is a magic footballer and we are hoping to persuade him to come to us on a long or short-term deal." Evans believes Collymore, who retired from the professional game after an unsuccessful short stay in Spain, could be lured to Lincolnshire.
"At the end of the day I do not believe it will be about money," said Evans.
"Like Mike Marsh, it is not about money for him but playing football.
"We are offering Stan the opportunity to rekindle his spark and enthusiasm to play football and help mount a successful bid to get into the Football League."
