Four Nordic consumer-protection agencies have demanded Ryanair change its contract conditions and price advertising to make them fair and reasonable.

"Ryanair must offer passengers at least a minimum level of consumer rights. The airline's contract conditions do not meet this requirement at present," the Finnish Consumer Agency & Ombudsman said in a statement.

Ryanair is the leading low-cost airline in the Nordic region and has been attacking the region's biggest flag carrier, SAS, in its aggressive marketing campaigns, saying it offers significantly lower prices than SAS.

Ryanair should use prices including all taxes and charges in its marketing, argue the Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish consumer agencies, which each sent a letter to the airline with their demands yesterday.

The airline should also make sure passangers may transfer their tickets to another person, provide compensation if a flight is delayed and provide contract conditions in Finnish and at least one Scandinavian language, the authorities demanded.

They also said the airline's right to pass on passengers' personal data must be limited, or it should at least specify to its clients in which cases personal data can be passed on.
