Northern Ireland Assembly members will stage their first debate today since Stormont was recalled for business after three-and-a-half years.
Members of the business community will meet Assembly members in the Senate chamber ahead of the debate focusing on the North's economy.
But the debate will be the first real test of whether the Assembly can work properly ahead of the restoration of devolution, with Sinn Féin due to decide whether it will take part.
Assembly members were due to debate a motion which read: "This Assembly considers the economic challenges facing Northern Ireland in the context of both the UK and all Ireland economies to be a key priority for a restored executive."
The motion also proposed the setting up of a business committee established working group to consider how the Assembly will deal with the economy in a restored executive.
Assembly members held their first plenary yesterday since the suspension of devolution at Stormont in October 2002. It was also the first gathering of the new-look Assembly, which was elected in November 2003.
