Residents in the Fingal County Council are being asked to conserve water ahead of a disruption in services in some areas starting this evening and lasting until tomorrow.

The council said a trunk water main will be shut down from 6 p.m tonight to 6 p.m. tomorrow as part of the construction of the N2 - Ashbourne Bypass.

The following areas have been warned to prepare for disruptions or in some cases a total loss in water supply: St Margarets, Ballyboughil, Swords, Oldtown, Rolestown, Malahide, Cottrellstown, Balscaddan, Cloghran, Garristown, Santry, Feltrim, Toberburr, Lusk, Loughshinny, North Road, Rush, Kinsealy, The Ward, Portmarnock, Balgriffin, Coolquay, Donabate, Portrane, Ballymadun, and Balrothery.

Six water tankers will enable residents to get supplies during the disruption between 7 and 10 p.m. tonight and tomorrow from 8.00 a.m. if required.

The tankers will be at Swords (Junction of Seatown Road and North Street); Swords (At Rivervalley Shopping Centre); Donabate (at the church); Malahide (church on Seabury Road); Portrmarnock (At Dunnes Stores); and Sutton Cross (Marine Hotel Car Park).

The council also warned of a second shutdown on Friday, February 25th, until 6 p.m. the next day.
