North Light underlined his Epsom Derby credentials with victory in the Dante Stakes at York today, a noted trial for the June 5th classic.

The colt was ridden by Kieren Fallon for trainer Michael Stoute, Derby winners in 2003 with Kris Kin.

North Light took up the running 800 metres from the finish and held off the strong challenge of Rule Of Law by half a length.

North Light, a 6-1 chance at York today, had his odds for Epsom cut from 20-1 to 8-1 fourth favourite.
