The king and queen of Norway continue their three-day state visit to Ireland today with Queen Sonja attending the opening of a seminar on Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen at Trinity College.

Trinity is holding the seminar in honour of the hundredth anniversary of the dramatist's death. A number of Irish and Norwegian scholars will speak at the seminar, including literature theorist and critic Professor Toril Moi, and playwright and critic, Thomas Kilroy.

Queen Sonja is also due to visit the National Library of Ireland to open an exhibition in honour of Ibsen, while King Harald will attend a conference at the Global Irish Institute at UCD.

The couple travel to Cork tomorrow, where they will visit a seminar on Ireland's seafaring legacy at the National Maritime College of Ireland.

Queen Sonja will also open an exhibition of Norwegian jewellery at Cork Public Museum before she and her husband conclude their Irish visit.
