Many Munster fans, still in their rugby jerseys, watched The Da Vinci Code in Holyhead's Empire Cinema last night following the cancellation of two Stena Line sailings because of a technical problem.

Reports said the stranded Munster fans were in good spirits. Up to 3,000 passengers were affected by the cancellation of the Stena Line high-speed sailing (HSS) service on the Holyhead to Dún Laoghaire route. All disrupted passengers were given a £10 food voucher. The majority were rugby fans who had travelled to Wales for the Heineken Cup match in Cardiff.

The morning sailing of the HSS brought some Munster fans across the Irish Sea but then was unable to dock due to a problem with the bow thruster. "The ship was eventually able to dock at 4.40pm," said a Stena spokesman.

The HHS has remained in Dún Laoghaire for repairs and the scheduled afternoon and evening sailings from Holyhead were cancelled, as were all services from Dún Laoghaire to Holyhead.
