Juxtaposing Visions is the title of a collaboration between NUI Galway and the Irish Museum of Modern Art over the next three months. Selected works from the IMMA collection have been put on display in the university's art gallery to coincide with a free public lecture series.

The lectures will aim to introduce contemporary Irish art to a general audience. The first is a slide presentation on the artists, which will be delivered tomorrow night by Sheila Dickinson of NUI Galway.

Sculptor Dorothy Cross will talk on Tuesday September 26th, while recent developments in Irish painting will be analysed on Tuesday October 10th, by the author of Modern Art in Ireland, Dorothy Walker. Sheila Dickinson will lecture again on Tuesday October 24th, on the use of text in contemporary Irish art.

On Tuesday November 7th Ms Dickinson will focus on Irish women's contemporary art, and the final talk, on recent art in Ireland, will be given by Dr Gavin Murphy on Tuesday November 21st. All lectures will take place at the Arts Millennium Building in NUI Galway, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
