New York - The number of people registered as missing in the ruins of the World Trade Centre has fallen to 5,960 and is likely to fall further, New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has said.
Mr Giuliani told reporters that while 5,960 people had been registered as missing with the police, only 4,620 people were recorded as missing at the family centre set up for victims of the September 11th attack on the twin towers.
He said the final toll was likely to be somewhere between the two figures, but still considerably lower than the previous missing toll of 6,347.
No survivor has been found since five people were rescued the night of the attacks.
