The Nursing Alliance makes its formal submission to the Labour Court on nurses' pay tomorrow. The Health Service Employers' Agency made its submission last Thursday. The court is not expected to issue a recommendation for some weeks.
Meanwhile, the INO has called off its threatened overtime ban, which was due to begin today. This follows agreement on the implementation of overtime for full-time staff in talks with the HSEA, which also took place last Thursday. Both sides are to meet again this week to discuss the application of overtime rates for part-time nurses.
If the overtime ban and associated boycott of non-nursing duties had gone ahead today, it would have caused serious disruption in major acute hospitals.
