Racing: Admiralofthefleet came with a strong late run to take the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes at Ascot for Aidan O'Brien.

Medicine Path looked the likely winner of this Group Two contest when he hit the front a furlong and a half out until Mick Kinane conjured a late burst from the winner.

The 11-2 shot came home two and a half lengths clear of Medicine Path, with Kirklees two lengths away in third.

O'Brien's charge earned a 33-1 quote with VC Bet for the Stan James 2000 Guineas.

O'Brien said: "With a strong pace there, Mick slotted him in and he came home really well. He's a Danehill by a Mr Prospector mare so the ground was a big worry.

"He's a tough horse and always finishes. We were happy enough they were going so fast and he was going to come there. Mick was just biding his time.

"He's a fine, big horse. That's his fourth run, so it's not definite he'll run again this year, but we'll probably leave him in both the Grand Criterium and the Dewhurst.

"We'll give him time to mature over the winter. He's a nice horse for next year."

Kinane added: "We were going a really decent pace and I planned to be on it, but a lot of the boys had the same idea so I gave way.

"They were going pretty hard and then my horse picked up nicely and was impressive.

"I didn't have much choice but to sit and it was ideal for me. He quickened up well.

"You'd have to think he'd play his part next year. He's a big horse, he's only going to get better with a bit of maturity. He'll be in the reckoning in the spring, for sure," the rider told At The Races.
