O’Brien’s sandwich bars have joined up with catering services company Eurest to open outlets in company canteens and restaurants throughout Ireland.

Under the new deal, worth €25 million, O’Brien’s will open sandwich outlets at 15 Eurest operations over the next five years. The first outlet has opened in KPMG's headquarters in Dublin.

Eurest - a subsidiary of global catering company Compass - operates in 160 locations across Ireland.

There are also plans to open an two sandwich bars at IBM in west county Dublin.

O'Briens chief executive Mr Brody Sweeney said the deal gives O'Briens an "excellent opportunity to develop into a new market".

Mr Noel Mahony, managing director of Compass Ireland, said working lifestyles in Ireland have changed significantly in recent years. He said employees are under greater time pressures during their working day, resulting in the emergence of a new "grab-and-go" food culture.
