GAA:Eamonn O'Brien will stay on as Meath senior football manager for another year while Eamonn McEneaney has stepped down as Louth boss after four years in the role.

O’Brien was given a one-year extension after guiding the Royals to the All-Ireland semi-final in his first year in charge. He has also been given the option of a third year.

It remains to be seen is the same backroom team of Robbie O'Malley, Donal Curtis and physical trainer Colm Brady will be kept.

Colm O'Rourke will also stay on as the Meath under-21 manager with Trevor Giles as one of his selectors.

In McEneaney’s case Louth held out some hope of the former Monaghan star staying on to see out his five year contract.

McEneaney recently said it was "more than likely" that he would stay on for the final year and that he had the support of the players, but has since changed his mind.

He was the third-longest serving manager in football behind Tyrone's Mickey Harte, who was appointed in late 2002, and Seamus McEnaney, who became Monaghan manager in late 2004.

This season was one of disappointment for Louth, who lost in the Leinster championship to Laois and then to Tipperary in the qualifiers.
