The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs is opening two new decentralised offices in Tubbercurry, Co Sligo, and in Na Forbacha, Co Galway.

Under decentralisation, 140 staff from the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs will relocate to Charlestown, Co. Mayo.

Of this staff, 101 have already relocated to an interim location in Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo, where the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs,

Éamon Ó Cuív, has opened new offices to accommodate them.

The Department added that it was liaising with the Department of Finance and the OPW on securing a site for the Department's headquarters at Charlestown, Co. Mayo.

Under the Decentralisation Programme, 10 posts from the Department have also relocated to Na Forbacha, Co. Galway. Mr Ó Cuív is to open these new offices in Na Forbacha today.

Mr Ó Cuív said, "It is a tribute to the staff that the decentralisation process has been so successful in my Department, and I am delighted to note that all the Community, Rural and Gaeltacht programmes operated by my Department are now being delivered from decentralised offices."
