Ms Orla O'Kennedy, daughter of Mr Michael O'Kennedy TD, has decided not to seek a nomination from Fianna Fail to run for election in the three-seater North Tipperary constituency following her father's decision to retire from politics. Two county councillors and one UDC councillor are now likely to join the Minister for Defence, Mr Smith, for two nominations at a selection convention in Thurles on September 30th. They are Ms Maire Hoctor, Mr Mattie Ryan and the chairman of Nenagh UDC, Mr Tony Sheary.
