RTE sought an interview with former PD leader, Des O'Malley, for the Tonight With Vincent Browne radio show to mark his distinguished political career on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of his election to the Dail in May. O'Malley's reply to series producer Bernadette O'Sullivan has come Quidnunc's way and reads as follows: "Dear Bernadette, I am just now getting over the shock of your letter of January 21st. Hence the delay in replying. Tell your well-informed presenter that I think I was elected on May 20th, 1968. At that time he was still a mongrel fox roaming the County Limerick countryside looking for succulent chickens. Thank you for telling me that Vincent admires me greatly. He has masterly control of his emotions and feelings because during all those years I never knew. Best wishes, Yours sincerely, Des O'Malley."

With all this, the member for Limerick East fails to mention whether he will do the show or not.
